From Afternoon Tea To NFL Football

As you continue to read my blog and get to know more about me, I am sure you have picked up on a few of my typical girlie-girl tendencies; indulging in luxury spa experiences, shopping, enjoying fruity cocktails, trips with the girls, etc.  What you probably don’t know as much about me is the 180 degree opposite side; the NFL football loving, math nerd, analytical type that coexists within the same girlie-girl. Yup, that’s me!

So ok, back to the feminine side…one of my absolute favorite weekend past-times is afternoon tea (as in the British version). You know the kind; fancy finger sandwiches, pastries and scones served on beautiful tiered china, all while sipping gourmet tea with your pinky in the air. Yes, that one…I love it!

Afternoon Tea At The Allis

Afternoon Tea At The Allis

One of my new-found discoveries is the afternoon tea at The Allis located within Chicago’s Soho House in the West Loop. Why is this such a big deal? Not only do you get the highest quality tea and beautifully presented and tasty food, but the price tag is less than half of what you would pay at somewhere like The Drake or Four Seasons for the same type of afternoon tea. Deal alert!

I actually kind of preferred the more casual, relaxed setting and found the afternoon tea equally as great (if not better) than other afternoon teas I have experienced in Chicago. Also, The Allis was very accommodating to my request for vegetarian only sandwiches. Both my friend Pina and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon catching up and indulging in some yummy treats.

The moral of the story; if you want to express your girlie-girl side (or manly-man side…no judgments here), I definitely recommend The Allis’ high tea as a great alternative to the expensive afternoon tea most of us are accustomed to at the big, fancy hotels.

Please Note: While I was invited to try out this offering, all opinions are my own.
