Holy Moly! I had the opportunity to try out so many cool things in the past few weeks that I actually need to write a separate post on products and books only! This is a first. Normally, I write about these types of reviews in my monthly recap with some of the great events I attended. Not this month. April is proving to be off the charts. I like it! Ok, here we go:
Good Habit Box– I’m pretty sure this monthly curated box of handcrafted healthy foods and beverages was developed with me in mind. I’ve been working out a lot harder the past few months and find myself hungry throughout the day. It’s always easy to reach for junk food that seems to be omnipresent around my office, but I’m trying to be much more mindful of what I actually snack on. And voila, here’s a solution. The Good Habit box has several different boxes to choose from with varying quantities of superfood breakfasts (oatmeal and granola), teas (award-winning organic black and green teas), snacks (nut and seed blends in a variety of flavors) and shakes (protein shakes with added green tea extract to boost energy and metabolism). I’ve already found the Good Habit box come in handy as I didn’t have time to eat breakfast this morning before work and looked in the box to find the gingered figs and walnut oatmeal. It was not only delicious but made me feel good about starting my day on the right note. I’m hooked. The Good Habit box is going to be my new BFF in those moments of weakness or non-preparation like this morning. Thanks Good Habit!
Eating Rome Book– Since I lived and studied abroad in Florence, Italy, anything having to do with Italian food and travel to that beautiful country will always excite me. So how perfect when I am given the opportunity to review the book called ‘Eating Rome: Living the Good Life in the Eternal City’ that highlights the best places to eat and how to navigate Rome like a pro. It’s an insider’s culinary guide developed by author and blogger Elizabeth Minchilli and her recommendations on things like the best place to grab a panino or how to properly order a coffee at an Italian coffee bar. I especially loved the chapter on Roman vegetables and which veggies to order in restaurants as well as the chapter on how to eat pasta like a Roman. What’s awesome about this book is that it is just as much a culinary and travel guide to Rome as it is also a cookbook with many great recipes and beautiful pictures to supplement all of the above. Ok, it’s officially time for me to book a trip back to Italy. Anyone want to join? We are all set for our visit to Rome with this book in hand.
Crispy Fruit Snacks– I, just like every other person on the planet, am always trying to figure out how to get more whole foods like fruits and veggies into my diet (yes, one would think that with me being vegetarian that fruits and veggies would be all I eat). Well, I’ve come across an awesome solution that is perfect for not only getting more fruits into your diet, but is also a great travel snack. Crispy Fruits are freeze-dried to remove the water from fresh, sweet fruit and leave behind a light and crispy snack. It’s still all-natural and very healthy for you, providing a nutrient packed option at your fingertips anytime. On the days I’m looking for something sweet, this is the perfect thing! I had the chance to try out 5 of the 7 different varieties and it comes as no shock that my favorite of the bunch was the Asian Pear one (since many of you know I’m obsessed with pears)! I definitely plan on stocking up, especially to take on trips with me when I need a healthy and yummy alternative while on the road.
The 22-Day Revolution Book– Macro Borges, the personal trainer and nutritional expert to Beyoncé and Jay Z (among other celebrities), just came out with a new book called ‘The 22-Day Revolution: The Plant-Based Program That Will Transform Your Body, Reset Your Habits, and Change Your Life‘. Earlier this year Marco teamed up with Beyoncé to release their plant-based meal service, and now in this book he shows you each step to take, shares many delicious plant-based recipes and inspiring stories to help motivate you. The book is based on the principle that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. By making vegan and plant-based meal choices during the 22 days, you reach a breakthrough that will help you incorporate plant-based meals and healthier choices for the rest of your life. I’ve been really inspired as I am reading this book and am considering following this 22-day plan. As I mentioned, I’ve really been focusing on my health more and I believe this book will help remind me that I can kick pizza and cupcakes to the curb for a while (well, at least 22 days) and that basing my meals around natural, whole-foods is key to a healthy lifestyle. Anyone want to try this out with me? So much more fun to do with a friend and maybe we’ll look like Beyoncé at the end???
Follow Your Heart Vegan Cheeses– Calling all vegans, lactose intolerant and health conscious folks. The Follow Your Heart cheese products that are soy-free, lactose-free, non GMO and vegan are an awesome option for your dietary needs. And best yet, it tastes almost like the real deal and not like other vegan cheeses. To be frank, I’m not normally a vegan cheese kind of person. Either the taste, texture or meltability factor never work for me. I have to say I was pretty shocked at how awesome these cheeses tasted and melted. And because I had so many options to try (American, mozzarella, provolone and garden herb), I brought my samples to the office to do a little poll on what people thought about the cheeses. It was unanimous that everyone was shocked that they liked them (mind you most of my co-workers are carnivores and definitely not normally into vegan cheeses). While everyone’s preferences were different for their favorite flavor, mine were the mozzarella slices. They tasted so close to the real deal and I was sold. Check out Follow Your Heart if you are in the market for vegan cheese!
Please Note: While I was provided with each of these items, all opinions are my own.
