Summer Concerts In Millennium Park
Besides the fact that Chicago absolutely ROCKS in the summer, one of my absolute favorite things to do during the warm months is go to the plethora of awesome outdoor concerts around the city. Two of my favorites venues are the Pritzker Pavillion at Millennium Park as well as Ravinia. I personally think these are must-do’s for any local or tourist; you can’t be in Chicago in the summer and miss out on these!
Pastoral Cheese Selection
And here’s a little tip to make both of these experiences about a million times better; on your way stop in at Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread and Wine shop and pick up some delicious snacks and wine for the concert (or really, for anytime, but let’s stick to the theme of concerts here). The great thing is that Pastoral is strategically located near or on your way to both locations; Wabash and Lake near Millennium Park as well as a location in the French Market in Union Station on your way to Ravinia (Pastoral has several other locations as well).
Learning About Cheese Pairings At Pastoral
Not only do I love the absolutely awesome wide variety of specialty cheeses, but I love the very helpful and resourceful staff that is so knowledgeable about everything in the store. I had the wonderful opportunity to get a private lesson in pairing unique items with cheeses from the head cheesemonger (think a professional cheese curator) of Pastoral. What an eye-opening experience to learn how to pair things I would have never considered together, like dark chocolate with bleu cheese. Who know that combo would be absolutely delicious and amazing?? I now have a better sense that there are so many possibilities to pair cheese together with things other than just crackers or olives. Thanks Pastoral!
When you stop in, take your time to learn about the huge selection of cheeses and the staff can help recommend a great takeout of treats for the concert or whatever your needs are. There are also gourmet sandwiches and salads, catering options and gift boxes available at Pastoral, so be prepared for lots of great choices.
