The Universe And Dairy-Free Yogurt?!

Call it what you will…The Universe, fate, luck, kismet, coincidence.  Sometimes the things that happen are pretty freaking cool.

Take for example, a goal to cut out dairy from my diet for a few weeks. I made this decision after listening to a health webinar and learning about the effects of dairy on our bodies. Being vegetarian, this seemed like a pretty tough task to not have any dairy (read: cheese), but it just really requires some planning and discipline (oh, and some SERIOUS self-control to bypass the pizza section on menus).

I made this decision and literally the next day I received an email to try out Coconut Dream yogurt (made from coconut milk) and Almond Dream yogurt (made from almond milk). I think it was the Universe’s way of supporting my decision to go dairy-free for a bit. So, I gracefully accepted and had the chance to try something new that I may not have tried otherwise.

And you know what? I absolutely loved these yogurts, especially the one made with coconut milk. These yogurts are non-dairy, gluten-free, soy-free and lactose-free as well as non-GMO with the same live bacteria cultures in regular yogurt. I’m usually skeptical of vegan products and say they don’t always “float my boat” but these yogurts tasted great and had a wonderful, smooth texture to them. I was definitely an immediate fan.

Here are a few fun ways I enjoyed the yogurts:

Inspired by my favorite season of fall, I added some pumpkin spice and cinnamon to the vanilla Coconut Dream yogurt and enjoyed it on my rooftop on a beautiful, sunny day.

For a snack, I added one teaspoon of soaked chia seeds to the strawberry Almond Dream yogurt as I worked on the blog.

Needing to refuel after an intense morning workout, I made a smoothie with the plain Coconut Dream yogurt, banana, strawberry, mango, flax and hemp seeds. A filling and delicious way to start my day.

The options are limitless! I’m just excited that such a great dairy-free option presented itself to me as I embraced the no-dairy lifestyle for a while. Try it out (even if you aren’t going dairy-free), I know you will like it.

And, as an update, I am back to eating dairy but on a much more limited basis. I’d like to say that I’m adopting a “reduced-dairy” lifestyle moving forward. All I know is that I will definitely still be eating these delicious yogurts.
